Merry Christmas

Floyd Family Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014

We haven’t written a Christmas letter in many years. René use to write most of them for us, but he has his own family now, so I guess it is up to us to continue the tradition.

2014 has been a year of change for the Floyd household. As many of you know we moved to Del Rio, TX in October of 2013. Larry accepted a call to become the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, thus began our new journey. We had 10 years of stability in the same location, same house, same church, and the kids in the same school district, so the move was naturally a tough one. God really prevailed as He always does when you answer His call.

One of the prayer requests we asked God was to provide us with a house that would accommodate family and friends when they came to visit us. So far, we have had several guests to come and visit us here in Del Rio. Lucy wanted to have a house that was move in ready, since Larry would be very busy with all the responsibilities that come with being the pastor of a church. We purchased a home in a great location with everything on the list that we asked God to provide. We signed a contract on the house 2 days before Larry actually was voted on by the church. It truly was an act of faith, not knowing if the vote would be yes for Larry to become the pastor.

Lucy was able to stay home and set up the house until she landed a job with the school district in January. Lucy start out at the Junior High school, but after a few months accepted a position at Lamar elementary as the attendance secretary. God provided once again for the needs of our family.

David & Irene took some time to adjust to their new surroundings. They had never known another place except for Weatherford, TX. They are now well adjusted and God has provided their every need as well. Irene goes to the same school that Lucy works at, and is doing well. David was accepted to Comstock ISD, which is 30 miles away. Comstock is one of the best school districts in Texas with only 200 students in the entire school system. David is playing sports and also doing well in school. David and Irene have both sprouted in height since coming to Del Rio.

Church has been a total God thing. He has definitely had His hand over all the ministries as we have been able to see that for ourselves. We have seen 32 baptisms since we have been here, with many of them adults that have asked Jesus to be the Lord of their lives. Our small group Bible studies have really blossomed as well. Worship attendance has brought us an array of new young families seeking to live out their lives in community through a local church. We have seen 15 children/parent dedications as well. First Baptist Church is in a rebirthing stage and it is exciting to see.

We are now privileged to be the proud grandparents of our 3rd grandchild, Rhodes Ox Floyd. Rhodes was born on Thursday, November 30, 2014. He is healthy and doing well!

This Christmas, we wish all the best for you and your families. Jesus was born in order for us to live for Him. He changed the world in order to change us. He is the expected Christ child and you can ask Him to be your King by accepting Him into your heart and life. He loves you and wants you to have a very Merry Christmas this year. It is not a holiday, it is a birthday celebration!

Stay In The Light, 1 John 1:7,
