It’s been a while since I have had an opportunity to blog. To say I have been busy is an understatement. 20 months ago, the Lord called me back to my hometown of El Paso, Texas. On October 1, 2019, I assumed my role as the Executive Director of the El Paso Baptist Association. 5 months into my tenure, Covid19 reared its ugly head. May of 2020, we began a year long journey into the food ministry by partnering with a USDA program entitled farmers to families. I year later, the program ended but not until we distributed more 8 million dollars worth of fresh food to more that 150 churches and organizations who went to their communities and share the food boxes.
That brings me to the reason for this blogpost. There has been a lot of interest in creating a ministry in order to facilitate the migrant traffic here on the border in El Paso, Texas. I have received calls from Washington State, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Idaho, New Mexico, and of course all parts of Texas. The reason for the calls: to see how they can help with the border crisis here in El Paso. After much prayer, and securing a venue to begin this enormous ministry, we believe the time is now to move ahead and create a Migrant Ministry Center that will be bathed in the love of Christ.
On July 7, 2021, the El Paso Migrant Ministry Center will officially launch. Much of the legwork has already begun, including accepting donations both financially and goods. We have created easy ways for you to participate and assure that your gifts will be 100% used for this ministry and on the field! What does that look like? The Gospel in action and in word will be given, humanitarian needs (showers, food, clothing, shelter), connection points for the migrant to contact their sponsor, childcare, and much, much, more.
Want to come to the border and participate, contact our office at the El Paso Baptist Association, 915.544.8671, or via email epba@elapsoba.org . Want to give a financial gift: elpasoba.org/give and click the give button, and choose a fund with the down arrow, and select Immigration Border Ministry, and you funds will be directly deposited into a restricted designated account. Want to but supplies need to run this ministry: amazon wish list and help us clothe, resource, and supply needs for the migrants among us. Want more info all in one place: El Paso Migrant Center
Keep up with this blog for updates and look for mission opportunities. I am blessed to be in this position, and we are looking forward to our partnerships that God is sure to bring!
